Why Product Narrative?

Product Narrative strives to help you accomplish your goal with less pain.

The last two words are the distinguishing factor that separates us from others.

But, what does “less pain” mean?

Three (3) perspectives to answer that question.

#1 Real-life insight

The abundance of knowledge on the internet makes it easy for anyone to claim they’re an expert on any topic: OKR, narrative communication, system work.

So, what distinguishes Product Narrative from them?

The particular fact stated at the beginning of this section makes our case. Yes, there’s an abundance of knowledge on the internet.

But, here’s the thing: we’re not giving you knowledge from books, videos, and articles.

Books, videos, and articles can only tell you the general concept. The broad stroke. There's no manual to help you adapt it to your specific and unique circumstances.

Relying on books, videos, and articles is futile. It doesn’t lessen your pain

What we share with you is insights from our own experience practicing OKR, Narrative Communication, and System Work.

We’re confident that you can leverage our insights to make the practice work in your company because we have undergone multiple iterations implementing those practices in various companies — from start-up to unicorns — tracking what works and what doesn't so we can tell you the tips and tricks while avoiding common pitfalls during implementation.

#2 An option to add more flavors, instead of just one

An option for you to pair OKR with other resources to better alleviate some of your pains

The pursuit of your goals is a journey. And, there are many resources you can choose to get you started.

Suppose you start with OKR. You learn and practice it consistently.

With enough time and effort, OKR will get you far.

But, sooner or later, you might find OKR is not without its limitations. It cannot solve all your pain points.

(For example, OKR doesn’t tell you how to inspire your teams to take up the practice and persevere when the going gets tough. Nor do OKR tell you how to care for your teams who are coping with failure.)

Here you have a choice.

Stick with OKR and do your best to push through. It might work. But, it won’t take your pain away.

Or, you pair OKR with something else. You equip yourself with other resources to alleviate some of your pain. Two we can offer are Narrative Communication and System Work.

You don’t need to learn all at the same time. Start with one first, and only add more if you think it’s necessary.

The more resources you have in your arsenal, the more options you can choose from when faced with challenges. It allows you to be adaptable to the circumstances at hand.

And, it’s more likely to make your journey less painful.

#3 Learning academy

A combination of macro and micro learning

Practicing OKR, Narrative Communication, and System Work requires you to learn. And, learning is crucial in creating sustainable change that brings long-lasting benefits.

When it comes to learning, however, how you learn is as important as what you learn.

What distinguishes PN is not only the comprehensive curriculum we created with great care from insights we gathered, but also the 2 approaches we take in learning:

  1. Macro learning — a self-contained learning event that focuses on the big picture and complete learning fundamentals.
  2. Micro learning — which aims to deliver learning content in smaller, easier-to-digest chunks.

We combine these 2 approaches to give you the best learning experience.

Macro learning creates the opportunity for teams and individuals to immerse themselves in deep learning, which is especially useful when they’re at the beginning of their learning journey. However, asking individuals to attend a 2-hour workshop means asking them to step outside of their flow of work. And, almost everyone in the company is busy.

Focusing only on macro learning means asking them to take on more work on top of their heavy workload.

And, this almost always creates pain.

This is where micro learning comes to play. In addition to helping individuals retain what they learn during the workshop (for example), micro learning also creates just-in-time learning opportunities for individuals. They can learn whenever they need or whenever time permits. This is a new type of learning: learning in the flow of work.

Our PN Academy is designed to enable learning in the flow of work. It contains courses that are made up of videos, texts, illustrations, and quizzes. The goal is to explain a specific concept thoroughly, but in smaller, easier-to-digest chunks, while also providing a variety of learning experiences to keep learners engaged.

The combination of macro and micro learning can help you to pick up a new skill faster.
